In the interests of working men and women, it's important to make sure that in this fall's civic election progressive, socially conscious councillors and school board members are re-elected and elected. The Winnipeg Labour Council will be endorsing particular candidates who will be helped in their election campaign efforts. Once they are elected, the Labour Council will be in contact with them at city hall when that's necessary to make sure labour's voice balances off the demands put forward by the Chamber of Commerce.
To help endorsed candidates get elected, a pool of trained people will be needed. To ensure such people are available, the Winnipeg Labour Council and Canadian Labour Congress will be hosting a Municipal Election School in March and April on Campaign Organizer Training.
All of the schools will be held on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. at the Union Centre, 275 Broadway. A light lunch will be provided. The four date options to attend are March 13, 20, April 17, or 24.
It's time we take back City Hall, and that's why it is so very important that there be as many volunteers as possible to help with this election. If you'd like to help make this the most successful Municipal Election ever for working people, let the Winnipeg Labour Council know by phoning 942-0522, sending an email to info@winnipeglabour.ca, or dropping them a note at 504-275 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4M6. We look forward to seeing you at one of these sessions!
